ObamaCare for Thee, Not for Me

Getting to know Obama's Cloward-Piven-Alinsky Strategy

Our Community Organizer in Chief will grind the rest of us under the heel of ObamaCare, but not his union friends:

Yesterday, the Deparment of Health and Human Services announced it had granted more than 500 new waivers to Obamacare's requirement that health plans have annual limits of no less than $750,000. This annual limit requirement climbs to $1.25 million next year and then to $2 million.
The reason these exemptions from the law are needed is that Obamacare forces all health insurance consumers to over-insure themselves and pay high premiums as a result. Without the waivers, many companies, non-profits and unions would simply drop their health plans. As of 2014, the waivers will no longer be available…
It is worth noting that there are 166 union benefits funds now exempted from this requirement, which account for about 40 percent of the exempted workers. This means that although there are only 14.6 million unionized employees in the United States, and 860,000 of them are already exempted from this provision of Obamacare.

Unions will destroy America as surely as they destroyed Detroit if Obama has his way. That's why they need to be kept healthy by sparing them from trauma as ObamaCare is used to bankrupt the private health sector.

Union-Only The Law of the Land

Labor-states, Congress curb non-union work
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has affirmed a lower court ruling giving the Department of General Services the green light to require union laborers work on its construction projects.

Commonwealth Court ruled in late 2009 that state entities are allowed to require any contractor bidding for a job to sign a labor agreement that promises no work stoppages and a timely finish to the project. In turn, the state entities promise to use all union workers and contractors that abide by collective bargaining agreements.

The Supreme Court opinion, written by Judge Dan Pellegrini, was a blow to a group of nonunion laborers who asked the court to enjoin the Department of General Services from using a project labor agreement, or PLA, on its renovations of SCI Graterford prison or on any other DGS projects moving forward.

The nonunion laborers argued the PLA unlawfully discriminated against nonunion workers by putting them at such a competitive disadvantage to union workers that they deprive nonunion shops from bidding or working on the projects. They also argued project labor agreements deprive the public of receiving the benefit of the lowest possible cost, according to the opinion.

Judge Pellegrini said there was little Pennsylvania law in this area, though the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled the agreements do not run afoul of the National Labor Relations Act.

Secret Ballots To Protect Union Workers

Act of Congress needed to codify democratic standard

Why the Secret Ballot Protection Act?

For the last five years, unions have spent hundreds of millions of dollars, taken from their members’ dues, to pass a bill that effectively eliminates employees’ right to a secret-ballot election on the question of unionization. Through the delusionally-dubbed Employee Free Choice Act’s ’card check’ provision, unions have sought to mandate that employees would automatically become unionized once a union secured 50% + 1 of employees’ signatures on authorization cards (or other form). However, after the Employee Free ANTI Choice Act passed the House in 2007 (it was later stalled in the Senate), more people began to take notice of the union threat to their right to choose (or not choose) unionization in the workplace.

The Secret Ballot Protection Act Ends Labor-Management Collusion

Although card check has always been legal, the denial of employees’ right to vote on unionization has been (and remains) subject to an employer’s cooperation with a union over the issue. While some employers willingly agree to card check (usually after a union conducts a sometimes-job killingcorporate campaign“), most employers (if they have to deal with a union) would rather have employees choose by secret-ballot, as opposed to signatures garnered through union pressure tactics.

Leading the charge. With the threat of card check ever present in Washington, voters in four states (AZ, SC, SD and Utah) took it upon themselves to vote to preserve the right to a secret ballot by passing measures in November. However, on January 14th, the NLRB, citing that the federal law trumps the states in this matter, threatened to sue the four states in federal court if they acted to enforce their voter-approved laws protecting the secret ballot. This has led the states to vow to fight the federal agency in order to protect their states’ constitutions.

While the card check issue was being played out at the state level, the NLRB’s Dana decision also brought card check to the forefront in early December. The NLRB’s decision in Dana affirmed the right of unscrupulous unions and companies to sell out employees’ rights by engaging in pre-recognitionalbargaining even before a union is certified as the employees’ agent, in exchange for the employer handing employees over to the union via card check. This legitimizes labor-management collusion through what are known as sweetheart unions—which are good for the unscrupulous unions and companies, but bad for employees.

The Secret Ballot Protection Act: A Beginning…

With President Obama re-nominating recess-appointed SEIU activist attorney Craig Becker to the NLRB, as well as the NLRB’s General Counsel writing rules to give unions access to employees while stripping employers’ of their property rights, the Secret Ballot protection act is not an ends—it is only a beginning. In order to reign in the terror that is being unleashed on job-creating companies and their employees, much more will have to be done in the future ( and, likely, through the new Congress).

As a starting point, though, the Secret Ballot Protection Act will go a long way to ensure that Americans cannot get hoodwinked into unionization through card check.

U.S. Left Leads Global Regime Change

Obama-approved back-channel operatives EXPOSED!
As the world watches Egypt crumble into chaos, with over 100 dead and 2000 injured, the Obama administration continues to be somewhat and rather curiously ambivalent. On the one hand, on Friday, Vice President Biden came to the defense of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, saying that he shouldn’t step aside. Yet, on the same day, the Telegraph (ala Wikileaks) reported that the U.S. had planned “regime change” for the “past three years” while both President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton demand that internet be restored to the Egyptian protesters. This morning, Secretary of State Clinton again clarified the United States’ official position, ”We do not want to send any message about backing forward or backing back.”

For all the lack of clarity on where the Obama administration stands, one thing is becoming more and more clear: Signs are beginning to point more toward the likelihood that President Obama’s State Department, unions, as well as Left-leaning media corporations are more directly involved in helping to ignite the Mid-East turmoil than they are publicly admitting.

If it is indeed the case that the Obama administration, with help by private-sector companies and the union movement has led an “internet revolution” in the middle east and toppled two governments within a month, the longer-term ramifications for U.S. relations with other allies such as Saudi Arabia and certain other Arab monarchies, could prove to have much more far-reaching consequences.

The Role of Unions in the Tunisian Revolution.

Shame On WTF ObamaCare

Leftwing apparatchiki, insiders waived out by WH
If you would like to know what the White House really thinks of Obamacare, there’s an easy way. Look past its press releases. Ignore its promises. Forget its talking points. Instead, simply witness for yourself the outrageous way the White House protects its best friends from Obamacare.

Last year, we learned that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had granted 111 waivers to protect a lucky few from the onerous regulations of the new national health care overhaul. That number quickly and quietly climbed to 222, and last week we learned that the number of Obamacare privileged escapes has skyrocketed to 733.

Among the fortunate is a who’s who list of unions, businesses and even several cities and four states (Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee) but none of the friends of Barack feature as prominently as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

The question remains: If Obamacare is such a great law, why does the White House keep protecting its best friends from it?

Connecting the Progressive Dots

Global Hard Left organized by AFL-CIO thugs
Sometimes the story comes to you. That’s what happened this weekend, when some Associated Press pictures we used in a Saturday story revealed an interesting fact: U.S. leftist and socialist groups staged rallies across the country in support of Egyptian protesters. It’s a curious phenomenon, so we decided to dig deeper. Here’s what we found. Some of it will surprise you, and unfortunately some of it will not.
