WFP-ACORN Criminals Point To 2012

Obama vote-fraud unit forgotten but not gone

Gird your loins for 2012, conservatives. A voter fraud case in upstate New York should serve as a reminder of what Democrats will try during an election year. From the Troy Record:

After being brought into a Rensselaer County courtroom in handcuffs, Councilman Michael LoPorto and Democratic Election Commissioner Edward McDonough pleaded not guilty Friday to a combined 116 felony counts alleging they falsified dozens of absentee votes.

116. Felony. Counts.

We covered this case in September of 2009 for NewsBusters, where the depth and breadth of blatant forgery was underscored:

The allegations, which were brought to light by the Albany Times Union, involve absentee ballots forged by people associated with the city’s Democratic Party for those registered to vote on the Working Families Party (WFP) line in Troy, NY. The ballots not only involve clearly forged signatures, but also, falsifying excuses for not being present on Election Day, and registering individuals who no longer live in the area.

Keep in mind like most alleged criminals, there is virtually no chance that this was the first time that this act was committed – it was merely the first time they were caught.

What is confusing here is why one of the main entities in this story, the Working Families Party itself, continues to escape unscrutinized. The WFP has continually been used as an avenue for corruption in Troy politics. Republican Bob Mirch, the Garbage Man as he is known in Troy and the man who initially investigated the Democrats, has long tiptoed the line of morality by using the WFP line to run joke candidates in an attempt to wrestle the line away from the opposing party. In this Fox News report, Mirch admits to such shady actions:

Mirch proudly admits he runs his own candidates in the left-leaning Working Families Party primaries to try and sap strength from the Democrats or gain the line for Republican candidates, but he insists he has never acted unlawfully, and blames his political opponents for doing just that.

The question is, why wouldn’t the Working Families Party fight for the integrity of their own voting and registration process by ensuring these things do not reoccur? The answer is, they are nothing than a bastion of corrupt politics. What you won’t see in any media report is the long-established history between the WFP and the uber-corrupt former organization known as ACORN. ACORN has recently fallen on hard times but much like the Hydra from Greek mythology, if you cut off one head, two more will grow in it’s place.

The WFP has been shown to be nothing more than a front for ACORN and its radical policies. Why?

  • RedState has demonstrated that the WFP was founded by key members of ACORN, and shares many of its political strategies.
  • The WFP has listed ACORN as an affiliate program directly on their Web site.
  • Roger Stone calls the New York Working Families Party “one of ACORN’s most successful projects”.
  • The New York Post analyzes the many shady dealings of the WFP, and its affiliation with ACORN.
