"Over the last four years, the Democratic Majority in the House took courageous action on behalf of America's middle class to create jobs and save the country from the worst economic catastrophe since the Great Depression. Our Members and candidates ran remarkable campaigns led by the superb leadership of DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen. The outcome of the election does not diminish the work we have done for the American people. We must all strive to find common ground to support the middle class, create jobs, reduce the deficit and move our nation forward." - U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 11/2/10

O-Corruption will now be EXPOSED!

WH cooperation with GOP probes expected
Rep. Darrell Issa, the California Republican who is in line to become chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, pledged early Wednesday morning to prevent so-called czars appointed by the administration from committing government money to programs they oversee.

Mr. Issa, who as committee chairman will have subpoena power over the Obama administration next year, made his remarks in response to a question about whether he would force Senate confirmation for the special administrators; Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard Law School professor tapped by President Barack Obama to oversee the creation of a new financial consumer-protection agency, was singled out.

The California Republican said he wanted to hold those appointees to the same standards that apply to all other non-Senate-confirmed administration officials by preventing them from committing government funds to the programs they oversee.

He said his first order of business would be arming inspectors general throughout the federal government with subpoena power to make sure their agencies comply with congressional requests for information.

“On a personal basis, I’m going to make sure the 74 primary inspectors general have the tools to do their job and they have the tools to do their jobs best,” Mr. Issa said. “I expect to have the president’s support on this.”

He also pledged to investigate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, both frequent targets of congressional Republicans; the mortgage giants have been run by the government since 2008.
