Individual liberty anywhere is a threat to the Progressive-Collectivist Cause everywhere.
(from suntimes.com)Rod Blagojevich's lawyers are contemplating calling President Obama as a witness in the ex-governor's upcoming trial, defense attorneys told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Blagojevich attorney Sam Adam Jr. said Monday the former governor's defense team has made an early request for any information regarding last year's FBI interview of then-President-elect Barack Obama because it is weighing whether to call the president as a witness in the June trial.
In a Friday filing, Blagojevich's defense team asked prosecutors for an early return of "notes, transcripts and reports" of FBI interviews with Obama, his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, White House adviser Valerie Jarrett and SEIU union chief Thomas Balanoff.
The filing asked for the same information regarding first lady Michelle Obama, but she was not interviewed by the FBI, her press secretary said.
Then President-elect Obama disclosed that he, Emanuel and Jarrett sat for interviews -- and detailed contacts his staff had with Blagojevich's office -- in a report made public last December.
The trial team wants Obama to say he knew of no quid pro quo for his seat, according to two defense sources.
The Sun-Times has reported that Emanuel is on tape discussing the Senate seat opening with the ex-governor. Jarrett was interested in the seat early on, and Blagojevich is heard on tape talking about trying to get money or a job in exchange for giving her the seat. Blagojevich attempted to use Balanoff as an intermediary.
Obama's team has said it knew nothing of Blagojevich's alleged plot.
(from nutbusterz.org)A Staten Island judge yesterday agreed to hold a trial on charges that a subsidiary of the Working Families Party subverted campaign finance rules to help a City Council candidate, Debi Rose, win her seat.
Judge Anthony Giacobbe set Jan. 13 as the trial date on a lawsuit brought by former Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro claiming that Data & Field Services, the subsidiary, gave Rose an unfair advantage by undercharging for its services.
The Working Families Party made major inroads in city races last month, propelling Bill de Blasio to public advocate and backing incoming city Comptroller John Liu. Both are considered leading Democratic mayoral candidates in 2013.
The union-backed party also assisted candidates in Democratic primaries in key City Council races in September, helping to snare seats from a handful of incumbents.
These big government social planners may believe they’ve achieved their community organizing goals fulfilling Historian Will Durant paraphrase of Lincoln’s famous quote, “It may be true that you can’t fool all the people all the time, but you can fool enough of them to rule a large country.“ They may believe their revolutionary administration will fundamentally change America however, if they’d step 20 miles outside the Beltway obviously there’s a counter-revolution brewing. The Tea Party is overtaking the Republican Party in popularity. It has already supplanted them at the grassroots of the conservative movement. By 2010 an avalanche of voters will throng the polling places demanding their country back.(from americandaily.com)
Following the tactics of Saul Alinsky brought the Obama-ACORN-SEIU coalition control of the Democratic Party and the country but following the Cloward/Piven Strategy for overwhelming the system to impose an alternative system is going to lead to a complete repudiation of this radical departure from traditional American politics and economics. We aren’t Venezuela. Even after decades of legislative efforts to progressively create a permanent underclass of government dependants who’ll follow the leader to the next looting of productive members of society the majority in this country still want freedom and opportunity not cradle-to-grave mediocrity.
We can and should stage a counter-revolution against this growing tyranny.
(from politico.com)If Copenhagen is the enviros’ Woodstock, then Gore is The Who, the Grateful Dead and Creedence Clearwater Revival as a one-man band. The former vice president drew such a big crowd that security had to shut down access, with hundreds of unhappy activists left outside…
Moeller also quoted the 19th century conservative British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, saying that “to be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge,” drawing a chuckle from Gore who, last week, traded barbs with Sarah Palin, describing her as a global warming “denier.”
