The new SEIU label: Radioactive ... Give the dirty ACORN-SEIU money back! When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for free people to dissolve the bands that tie ACORN and SEIU to corrupt, big-government, special-interest, welfare-state politics ... the MSM censors must be worked-around and the story must be told. We, therefore, the citizens of the united States of America, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish this demand: That any political officeholders and candidates for elective office who have accepted in-kind or cash contributions from SEIU, ACORN, or related entities, immediately give the money back, and pledge to never accept it again. Disgraced Alinskyite Wade Rathke connects ACORN, SEIU ... We've known for years the close connection between ACORN and the Service Employees International Union. But any thorough investigation of ACORN must look at how one of ACORN's founders - Wade Rathke, and his creation of two of SEIU's most powerful chapters - constitutes a criminal conspiracy to violate campaign finance and election laws to elect liberal Democrats to Congress. Rathke has been very careful. He has created literally dozens of shell organizations, not for profit groups, consulting entities, and other for-profit companies to funnel money meant for charitable or community organizing efforts into illegal political activity. The scheme is so complex, that forensic accountants will have trouble unraveling the whole, stinking mess. In the end, unless there is an administration and Congress determined to get to the bottom of things, it is doubtful the whole truth will ever be known. But we do have a few dots to connect. And one of those is Rathke's huge influence in SEIU that he has used to funnel millions into ACORN's coffers. (americanthinker.com)


The Tides Foundation: At the Heart of the Radical Left ... Here's how the Tides Foundation operates: they allow donors to anonymously contribute money to a variety of causes. This helps them avoid public accountability for their donations. A donor makes a check to Tides and instructs Tides to forward the money. Are you familiar with money laundering? This is exactly how Tides operates. There is no paper trail, which makes it ideal for high-profile individuals to fund extremist organizations without any record. There is the Tides Foundation and the Tides Center. Both are virtually of the same entity and, combined, donate roughly $100 million to far left radical groups each year. Drummond Pike is the founder of Tides. He is an extreme anti-war activist. What people need to know is that Tides has funded over 100 radical, left-wing groups, which played a significant role in getting President Obama elected in 2008. The media didn't do any due diligence when they vetted Obama and some recipients of Tides funding were behind this very closely. Here is some information on the organizations that Tides funds. This is taken from the Rich Guys Club: "The Ruckus Society is a group of environmental anarchists dedicated to the violent overthrow of America. One of its projects is to train people to disrupt events such as political party conventions using street blockades and other violent techniques. Protecting the public from SEIU ... Illinois Congressmen Mark Kirk and Peter Roskam today urged the U.S. Census Bureau to end its relationship with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a sister group to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) – a relationship intended to recruit SEIU workers for the 2010 census. Also joining Congressmen Kirk and Roskam was Congressman Patrick McHenry (N.C.-10), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census, and National Archives. The U.S. Census Bureau delegated work to outside groups for the federal 2010 census. Following the release of undercover videos showing ACORN workers helping a fake pimp and prostitute illegally secure housing, the Census Bureau terminated its partnership with ACORN. The House and Senate voted to block federal funding for ACORN and ACORN-related affiliates, including SEIU. While the Census Bureau terminated its partnership with ACORN, it left its close connection with SEIU intact. “Given SEIU’s co-location with ACORN in Chicago and SEIU’s intimate financial relationship with ACORN, we should take action to protect the public from the corruption of the 2010 census,” Congressman Kirk said. “To defend the integrity of the process, the Census Bureau should end its close relationship with ACORN’s close sister organization, the SEIU.” (liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com)

SEIU: Will astroturf for Obama-P2P ... Last Tuesday, Health Care for American Now (HCAN) - a radical coalition that includes bosses from the all-powerful SEIU union, the AFL-CIO, the humilated United Auto Workers (UAW) union and dozens of other unions, along with forced unionism-allies such as the corrupt ACORN group - declared a national day of action. The expressed goal of this Big Labor/ACORN axis? To create "political villains" by demonizing health care providers across the country. Every health care proposal proposed by the Congressional Majority is loaded down with Big Labor giveaways that will expand forced unionism, so union boss enthusiasm for health care "reform" shouldn't surprise anyone. To achieve this forced unionism takeover of American health care, union bosses are pulling out all the stops, including an astro-turfed campaign in collaboration with ACORN. (nrtw.org)


United States of ACORN: Sinful, tyrannical ... The real question, however, is why ACORN had ever received so much as a dime of the taxpayers’ money in the first place. Because ACORN, founded in 1970, has a number of branches and subsidiaries and a rather opaque organization chart, it is difficult to tell just how much money the outfit has received. Some put the figure at $1 million to $2 million per year. California Republican Rep. Darrel Issa claims ACORN has received $53 million since 1994. The simple rule should be that taxpayers should not be forced to fund any political groups, whether right-wing, left-wing, libertarian, socialist or militant moderates. Sadly, a plethora of groups with political agendas get federal funding, meaning those who disagree — at least some taxpayers in all cases — are forced to fund their adversaries. As Thomas Jefferson put it, “to compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” (gazette.com)


Meet SEIU's Patrick Gaspard, the new Karl Rove ... Newly discovered evidence shows the radical advocacy group ACORN has a man in the Obama White House. This power behind the throne is longtime ACORN operative Patrick Gaspard. He holds the title of White House political affairs director, the same title Karl Rove held in President Bush's White House. Evidence shows that years before he joined the Obama administration, Gaspard was ACORN boss Bertha Lewis's political director in New York. (spectator.org)


Ugly Big Labor fascism defines Obama ... The Employee Free Choice Act, however, would do away with the secret ballot and rely on cards only. In other words, Fred could collect cards without worrying about a secret ballot election. “Since when is the secret ballot a basic tenet of democracy?” Teamsters President Jim Hoffa asked on March 10. Imagine our earlier scenario if the Employee Free Choice Act were to become law. Do you vote your conscience when Fred hands you a card? I wrote to a friend who teaches rhetoric at the graduate level and asked him to define President Obama’s rhetorical tactic quoted above. He called it obfuscation. The truth is that if a majority of workers want a union in America, they will get a union in a fair, secret ballot election. (online.worldmag.com)


Obama Overexposed ... You know things are amiss when a British newspaper takes President Obama to task in an editorial titled, “Too much Obama.” America and the rest of the world have had nine months of President Obama and all the flaws that were hidden by campaign rhetoric and coverage are now on daily display. The problem, specifically, is too much rhetoric, too many speeches in too many places. The Times of London politely suggested “he has adopted flawed tactics for which he has only himself to blame. Defunding the Left ... Speaking to a packed hotel ballroom at the conservative How to Take Back America Conference, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said that exposes of “criminal tomfoolery” inside of ACORN could kick off a campaign to “defund the left.” Bachmann was introduced warmly by Phyllis Schlafly, the iconic conservative activist whose Eagle Forum was the chief sponsor of the event. “She’s one of our Republican stars,” said Schlafly, “and some of you came here just to see her.” She got a second introduction from Dick Bott, a conservative radio host who briefly broke down talking about Bachmann’s hospitality to foster children. Taking the stage, Bachmann thanked Schlafly, calling her an inspiration as a mother who transitioned into conservative politics, and said she considered the conference “a farewell party for ACORN!” The community organization group, she said, was the first, not the last, weak link in the liberal establishment. “Defunding the left is going to be so easy,” said Bachmann, “and it’s going to solve so many of our problems.” She praised James O’Keefe III and Hannah Giles, the people behind the ACORN sting. “Hannah and James used Saul Alinsky’s ‘Rules for Radicals’ — that’s the community organizer’s bible — against ACORN! Clarence Page takes on ACORN's ugly Social Justice fraud ... Nevertheless, ACORN activists brought most of their troubles on themselves long before conservatives piled on. The group's enormous growth since its humble start around a kitchen table in 1970 has brought scandal, financial calamity and internal rifts over charges of bad management. ACORN was an inviting target for political adversaries. The invitation was cheerfully accepted. Now ACORN's big embarrassment sends to the world the worst possible picture of low-income Americans, the very people whom ACORN is supposed to help. (chicagotribune.com)


Jumbo leftwing bank severs ties to ACORN ... Bank of America said Monday it is cutting off ties to ACORN amid allegations against the housing and community activist group related to taxes, use of federal money and giving advice to people posing as pimps and prostitutes. (phoenix.bizjournals.com)


Keystone State takes on union-backed fraud group ... This month, I offered a legislative amendment that would have denied public funding for partisan political organizations in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, my calls for the responsible use of taxpayer dollars were ignored, and the amendment was not considered by the House, which is controlled by Democrats. It's disappointing that despite all the talk about reforming our state legislature, we still have lawmakers willing to give Pennsylvanians' tax dollars to ACORN. Worse, the group is not even a legally operating charity in the commonwealth. It has been the subject of a cease-and-desist order from the Pennsylvania Department of State since 2007 for failing to meet the legal requirements to solicit charitable donations. Yet it receives thousands of dollars in state appropriations and grants. Some preliminary research by my office has uncovered more than $200,000 in state grants to ACORN over the past few years. I am in the process of filing for additional information on state funding of ACORN under the Right to Know Law so I can determine the full extent to which this organization is supported by state taxpayers' dollars. Mounting evidence reveals massive social justice fraud ... A former member of the Federal Election Commission says the Internal Revenue Service needs to open a "big" investigation into ACORN after a new Senate analysis shows that the controversial group paid for political campaign services with charitable dollars. A report released by Finance Committee staff of Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) finds that ACORN-affiliated charities are being used to raise money, which is then funneled to other charities or other organizations for "impermissible lobbying and political activity." Grassley says ACORN's movement of money "appears to be a shell game." Hans Von Spakovsky, a visiting legal scholar at The Heritage Foundation who once served on the Federal Election Commission, says the Grassley report provides further evidence that ACORN is more concerned with liberal political activity than helping the poor. Typical union-backed Dem advances ... A former chairman of the Ohio Communist Party has come closer than ever to taking a Cleveland City Council seat, after years of trying. Registered Democrat Rick Nagin finished a strong second in this month's primary race in Council Ward 14. He faces a Nov. 3 general election runoff against the top vote getter, Brian Cummins. Nagin failed in three previous bids for the council seat. He says the word "communist" has been demonized, so he resists being labeled one, though he wrote for the party's newspaper as recently as May. He describes himself as being on the side of the working class. (columbusdispatch.com)


Union dues, for what? ... A retired police officer is suing her former union, claiming its members are treating her differently by not giving her a $200 going-away gift. Michele Miller, 43, said other retirees were offered a retirement party or the equivalent monetary amount, and she’s been railroaded. “I paid my union dues for 20 years, for what?” she said. “Money is money. It’s past that now, though. It’s the point of it all.” Initially, Miller said, she didn’t think the dispute was because she’s a woman. Now, she’s not so sure. (thenewsherald.com)


Pro-union Alderman enraged ... A federal judge Monday said the Congress Plaza Hotel has a right to a sidewalk cafe, ruling that -- at least in this instance -- the U.S. Constitution trumps a Chicago alderman's clout. Judge Ronald Guzman enjoined the City of Chicago and Ald. Robert Fioretti, 2nd, from denying the hotel a cafe due to a long strike by hotel employees. Guzman wrote that "the only reasonable conclusion" was that the alderman refused to sign off on the hotel's application because he's a strong backer of the striking union. (chicagotribune.com)


Typical liberal fail ... Why do liberals always seem to get on the wrong side of any issue concerning America’s future, including its sovereignty, financial security, and defense? I think this question is particularly timely given the public discussion of Obamacare that included a huge, peaceful protest march on Washington September 12th. The President’s nonstop campaign to get “reform” passed and the heated exchanges in Congress do not represent actual healthcare reform, but are testimony to a liberal obsession with a very bad idea. Courtney Love is still floating on the charm offensive that Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez launched at Wednesday's screening of Oliver Stone's new documentary, "South of the Border." The singer, who came dressed to thrill in a short zipper-front skirt, says she noticed the twice-divorced Chávez checking her out during a Q&A afterward.
