Obama's unfinished business: More of the same ... This all happened in a mere six months. It won't stop here. They will go after more wealth distributions, more entitlement programs, more control of the food we eat, the cars we drive, the energy we use. Don't be surprised if our kids are subject to all the teachings of a liberal and secular world while limiting our rights to religious freedoms and teaching our own kids our moral and ethical values. They want to control every part of our lives. (thereporter.com)
CNN: Obama New Prog War Fail ... Opposition to the war in Afghanistan is at an all-time high in a new national poll. Fifty-seven percent of Americans questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday say they oppose the U.S. war in Afghanistan, with 42 percent supporting the military mission. The percentage of those in opposition to the war is up 11 points since April, and is the highest ever in CNN polling since the launch of the U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan soon after the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. The poll indicates that opposition to the war is coming mainly from Democrats and independents. (politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com)
Dem brand damaged by Obamalosi policies, politics ... Do you get sick watching those Sunday political shows? When Maxine Waters yells out that whatever the Democrats are doing is better than those “tax cuts for the rich?” The last I checked in the tax cuts she was referring to Republicans cut taxes on the poor by a third while only cutting a few points for the wealthy, and those cuts to the upper brackets stimulated near record job growth. By contrast, Democrat congressmen, like Charlie Rangel who doesn’t pay taxes anyway, and Diane Watson, who praised Fidel Castro as the ideal fair arbiter of income distribution, fought to raise taxes on the lowest income bracket from ten percent back to 15. Obama lied, our constitutional republic died ... Obama claimed he would bring accountability and transparency to government. As Politifact from the St. Petersburg Times phrases it, transparency was “promise number 234” from the campaign where Obama said he would reduce the number of bills rushed through Congress and to the President before the public had a chance to review them. Other broken promises (detailed at the link) would bring accountability by limiting access of lobbying groups, and even live negotiation of health care reform on C-SPAN. Obama made many campaign promises (Politifact counted 516) that amounted to his vision of “hope” and “change” for our country. People liked what he had to say and Obama enjoyed an approval rating at nearly 70 percent at the time of his inauguration. Less than 8 months later only 45 percent of the public approves of Obama. Obamalosi-Dem slavish devotion to union militants at odds with U.S. workers ... Today, the Center for Union Facts (CUF) released a unique new poll which found that 82% of non-unionized American workers would not like their jobs to be unionized. The poll, which was conducted by the Opinion Research Corporation of Princeton, New Jersey, clearly demonstrates that an overwhelming number of Americans have no interest in joining a union. Despite this, Democratic leadership in Congress continues to push the deceptively-named Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), which would effectively force millions of Americans into unions against their will by eliminating their right to a secret ballot vote. This poll indicates that there is no national mandate for a dramatic change in the law to make it easier to unionize. It further exposes the fact that EFCA’s backers are a small group of labor elites trying to push legislation that goes against the interests of America’s workforce. Unlike labor unions and their affiliated front groups who refuse to release any of their polls’ methodology, CUF’s poll is a straight-forward measurement of Americans interest in joining a union. In addition to gathering basic demographic information, we asked the following two questions to respondents (n = 1,142) who indicated that they were currently employed. Are you or is someone in your immediate family in a labor union? Yes: 20%, No: 79%. Of those that answered “no”, we asked: Would you like your job to be unionized? Yes: 13%, No: 82%. (laborpains.org)
Fascistic Pelosi boosts GOP hopes in 2010 ... The peasants are revolting — and getting downright ugly about it. That was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s complaint when she and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland penned a recent op-ed piece for USA Today about opponents of healthcare reform legislation who have been turning out at town hall meetings to voice their objections. Pelosi had furnished Democratic House members with “talking points” to use in town hall meetings with constituents over the August recess. But opponents of the proposed healthcare legislation had talking — and shouting — points of their own. Pelosi wrote, “It is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue.” The disruptions have occurred, she argued, “because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this effort for decades.” (thenewamerican.com)
What happens when Congress takes over the Executive Branch? ... Obama also owns some of the blame, however, for taking on so much at once, and for his tactical decision to float above the health care debate and wait for Congress to come up with a plan. Senate Republican Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn said that by pushing so many agenda items, "We're scaring the country half to death for fear of too many Washington takeovers and too much debt." Obama hearts White Russia ... For those who are keeping tally, the Obama empire now has 32 czars. That figure includes Mark Lloyd, the Diversity Czar at the FCC — that’s diversity in broadcasting. Lloyd who comes from the Center for American Progress (CAP), concluded that talk radio is far too conservative, 91 percent he says, and wants to see that changed via public policy. Truth be told, America has more czars in eight short months than the Romanovs ran through in over 300 years of rule in Imperial Russia. (jbs.org)
Seductive socialism scores ... How, in America of all places, did we get to a point where the rare and inexpressibly precious freedoms millions of our warriors have fought, bled and died for count for so very little? How did we get to where a worldview that is basically – let's say it out loud – communist, or socialist, is resonating with so many Americans? And how can the president of the United States get away with appointing a self-proclaimed communist revolutionary like Van Jones as his personal adviser? (wnd.com)

Shame on SEIU-HCAN ... If Rep. Jan Schakowsky hoped to use Monday night's town hall meeting as a pep rally for the "public option," she failed. It wasn't for lack of trying. Her staff arrived more than three hours before the event, with boxes of literature and a marked-up version of H.R. 3200 for their boss to use as a prop during the meeting. The HCAN crowd arrived soon afterwards with their manufactured signs and rolls of stickers. As the line grew outside the high school, HCAN organizers began handing out signs to sneak into the auditorium, and instructing supporters to block opposing views from being heard in the meeting or seen by the cameras. Inside the 1200-seat auditorium, the front rows were reserved for Schakowsky's planted speakers, who were to deliver prepared statements supporting the congresswoman and the bill. Shame on Obama-Diageo P2P ... Under the agreement, London-based Diageo PLC will receive tax credits and other benefits worth $2.7 billion over 30 years, including the entire $165-million cost of building a state-of-the-art distillery on the island of St. Croix in the Virgin Islands, a U.S. territory. Virgin Islands officials say the arrangement complies with the letter and spirit of tax law and will help the islands’ sagging economy. Captain Morgan is now produced in another U.S. territory, Puerto Rico, and critics say the Virgin Islands’ subsidy for the new distillery there, along with the other benefits, are so generous that they practically guarantees a profit on every gallon of rum produced there by Diageo, the biggest distilled spirits maker in the world. “The U.S. taxpayer is basically being asked to line the pockets of the world’s largest liquor producer,” says Steve Ellis, the president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, a nonpartisan watchdog organization. AFL-CIO big: Punish Obama Enemies ... The man expected to become the AFL-CIO's next president said Monday that lawmakers will pay a price if they abandon a government-run option in any health care overhaul. "We need to be a labor movement that stands by our friends, punishes its enemies and challenges those who, well, can't seem to decide which side they're on," said Richard Trumka, currently the AFL-CIO's secretary-treasurer. The threats came less than a month after a protester outside an Aug. 6 health care forum meeting organized by Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-Mo., was sent to the hospital after a beating inflicted by goons wearing SEIU T-shirts. That was the day the AFL-CIO announced plans to mobilize labor activists to attend town hall meetings in 50 congressional districts to counter conservative protesters, and the same week White House aides David Axelrod and Jim Messina traveled to the Capitol, advising senators to organize their events more carefully and to work with labor unions and other friendly groups to generate the appearance of widespread enthusiasm. "If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard," Mr. Messina told senators, according to two people in the room. (lvrj.com)
Union-backed, tax-funded fraud unit now a tax deadbeat ... The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is perhaps best known for its volunteers' habit of signing up fake voters. This has resulted in numerous state investigations and convictions of ACORN members for voter fraud activities. But the group is also a tax scofflaw to the tune of more than $1 million, according to documents unearthed by another Louisiana-based non-profit, the Pelican Institute. Pelican researcher Steve Beatty has come across dozens of outstanding and released tax liens against ACORN and ACORN affiliates, headquartered at two addresses in New Orleans. Although some of the liens have been paid, Beatty found that several are still outstanding, including a $547,000 lien by the federal government against ACORN itself. ACORN, a non-profit, must pay federal Social Security and Medicare taxes for its employees, as well as state unemployment taxes. Even as it keeps Uncle Sam waiting for tax payments, ACORN's cup runneth over with federal money. The group and its subsidiaries have received at least $53 million from Uncle Sam since 1989 through a variety of programs. (washingtonexaminer.com)
Ideas offered to rebalance political power ... First we need to change the federal side of elections, in 2010 that means the Senate and the House elections. If you have a career politician that is up for re-election (one that has been in office for more than 3 terms), let’s retire them. It’s not like they will be poor and destitute or without healthcare. If you agree with term limits for Congress, and THEY won’t vote in favor of it, we should institute our choice. We can retire them ... permanently! Let’s get some new blood in Congress, in Maryland, Barbara Mikulski needs to go, if she hasn’t done enough damage in 34 years, we shouldn’t give her any more years to try. Dutch Ruppersberger is also up for re-election in 2010, and needs to go to allow more of an even balance of power. (examiner.com)
Appointment Watch: Spriggs and Valenzuela ... The mainstream media continue to ignore President Obama’s appointment of bizarre personnel to run the government. Personnel is policy. That being the case the American people need to know about these appointments. This week we look another couple of Obama appointees. These are not isolated incidents or an occasional bad apple. These folks are representative of the appointments he is making with little or no push back from the Senate during the confirmation process. William E. Spriggs, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Policy * Spriggs believes that in the U.S. “everything is racial.” * Spriggs supports paying reparations to African countries. * Spriggs often expresses disappointment that Black immigrants do not feel sufficiently victimized. * Spriggs was nominated on June 9, 2009 and his nomination is pending in committee. Arturo Valenzuela, Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs * Valenzuela has been an apologist for corrupt dictators. * Valenzuela has stated that Hugo Chávez, “wasn’t that bad an hombre.” * Valenzuela’s former colleague stated that he had “made a career of rising up the bureaucratic ladder while leaving a string of questionable judgments in his wake.” * Valenzuela was nominated on June 8, 2009 and his nomination is pending before the full Senate. These are just a sample of the people President Obama is placing in positions of power within his Administration. Before it was disbanded earlier this year, PMA Group's employees and its political action committee gave current members of Congress $3.4 million between 1989 and 2008, with 79 percent of that going to Democrats, according to OpenSecrets.org. Ill-advised strike costs workers dearly ... Bill Kirby, vice president of Workers United Local 1426, issued a statement noting that, “Prior to going out on strike, we made an offer — not the company — to continue working while negotiations continued. The company rejected that offer,” he wrote in a statement issued Tuesday. “Now, because work was moved elsewhere during the strike, 77 people are not returning to work with everyone else and we do not know when they will return to work.” (tribstar.com)
Labor-state teachers offer kids a lesson in collective bargaining ... As the teachers hit the picket line for the second day, Kent School District officials headed to court on Tuesday to seek an injunctions to force teachers back into the classroom. The district's motion, which was filed at 1 p.m. in King County Superior Court, claims the teachers' strike is illegal. "This illegal strike not only hurts our students, but impacts our working parents who must seek care for their children while they are on the job," said district superintendent Edward Vargas. Kennedy Spit Christ ... America witnessed this nation’s most avid supporter of abortion-on-demand, standing in a Catholic basilica, during the Mass, speaking of a fellow pro-abort in glowing terms. That alone is such an insult to Christ that words simply cannot express my sorrow. Yet a greater source of sadness is that the Cardinal Sean O’Malley of the Archdiocese if Boston looked on as though insulting Christ himself were an everyday occurrence. Oh yes, there will be those who will excoriate me for saying such a thing, but please, let’s get to the heart of the matter, shall we? (cnsnews.com)

Clinton huddles with disgraced LatAm leftist thug ... US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to meet ousted Honduran president Manuel Zelaya on Thursday, over a month after a military coup whisked him into exile. Clinton's Washington talks with Zelaya follow a controversial US government debate on whether to declare the June 28 ouster of Zelaya a military coup. Under the US law, if it is determined that the military had removed Zelaya, Washington will be obligated to cut off tens of millions of dollars of aid to the Honduran government. The White House has already suspended about $18 million in aid to the Central American nation. Another $135 million aid by the Millennium Challenge Corporation -- a US government corporation that gives funds to poor countries with a record of sound policies -- could also face jeopardy if Zelaya's ouster is dubbed a military coup.
