Remaking U.S. leadership

Obama Administration demands global economic harmonization
via indiatimes.com, 10/30/09: "At the risk of sounding undiplomatic, Pakistan has to have internal investment in your public services and your business opportunities," [Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton said, adding, in a reference to the large-scale tax evasion in the country. ''The percentage of taxes on GDP is among the lowest in the world... We (the United States) tax everything that moves and doesn’t move, and that’s not what we see in Pakistan."
Apparently, President Ronald Reagan's view, offered to delegates attending the White House Conference on Small Business, August 15, 1986, still pertains:
"[G]overnment's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
