Saul Alinsky's "Rules For Radicals" explained
Union organizers are often highly trained. In many unions this training includes indoctrination in Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals."

Saul Alinsky was a ruthless radical organizer. He would stop at nothing to win. Before he passed away in 1972 he published a book called "Rules for Radicals" in which he outlined his power tactics and questionable ethics.

Anyone interested in staying, or becoming, Union Free, whether in an organizing campaign or in a decertification or deauthorization election, ought to become familiar with these rules.

This can be very valuable information. As one expert observer points out "Rules for Radicals are reversible and can be used against the Left."

Here's a brief summary of the rules. We are indebted to the Public Service Research Foundation for this information.

Rules for Power Tactics:

1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.

2. Never go outside the experience of your people.

3. Whenever possible, go outside of the experience of the enemy.

4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.

5. Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.

6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.

7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.

8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.

9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.

10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.

12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

Because Alinsky was sensitive to criticism that he wasn't ethical, he also included a set of rules for the ethics of power tactics. You can see from these why his ethics were so frequently questioned.

Rules to test whether power tactics are ethical:

1. One's concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with one's personal interest in the issue.

2. The judgement of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgment.

3. In war the end justifies almost any means.

4. Judgment must be made in the context of the times in which the action occurred and not from any other chronological vantage point.

5. Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa.

6. The less important the end to be desired, the more one can afford to engage in ethical evaluations of means.

7. Generally, success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics.

8. The morality of means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.

9. Any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition to be unethical.

10. You do what you can with what you have and clothe it in moral garments.

11. Goals must be phrased in general terms like "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity," "Of the Common Welfare," "Pursuit of Happiness," or "Bread and Peace."

These are just the highlights. There's obviously a lot more to it. Alinsky's book is still available in most college bookstores and on Amazon and is worth reading.

Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" needs to be highlighted and explained everyday on radio and Fox news so everyone can fully understand the insidious nature of this current administrations bent on destroying America, capitalism and the very foundations and principles our great founders of this nation gave us to follow. An expose documentary should be created and shown to every American so there can be no excuse for ignorance of how or why America met her demise.

Clown Chris Mathews did us a great service by admitting who he reveres and who's philosophy he and Obama subscribe to and espouse. This is good for us to know. Understand, these people are the domestic enemy spoken of in the constitution which they do not recognize or respect at all and they are no longer hiding how they really think. They now operate in plain view. Make no mistake, these people despise America and "you" so do not think you can reason with them. They literally embrace Marxist communism. They admit they are communists so McCarthyism can't be raised or claimed. They are operating in broad daylight in front of all who want to see. No longer do they hide who they are or what they seek to foist by fiat on you me and our families and our nation; enslave us!

Learn Alinsky's rules for radicals and turn them against them!

Do we really want to fundamentally transform America according to Saul Alinsky?

No wonder Obama is getting blow-back ... the American public will not stand for this kind of undoing.

Interesting how so much of the fear-mongering rhetoric espoused by Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and the like- then to hear Obama and Hilary patterned their approach with someone who seems mostly credited with helping organize the less fortunate... It is all in the spin- because it looks like the fear mongers are following the rules themselves.
They are all POLITICIANS or political media fops.
I would like to believe that Obama and HIllary have a greater interest in what the less fortunate- given the choices- and the fact the top 1% has gained about 15% more of the wealth in the past 20 years following the deregulation and pseudo-regulation and dotcom bubbles (Clinton) and Enron scams and stock scams (Clinton/Bush)- the wealthier are getting wealthier - while the poor- or loosing what little jobs and money they have… mostly demonstrated in our current economy which can be laid at the feet of the past 8 years. But it isn’t the president that writes the laws- its congress. Traditionally it is the democrats that push for a more socialized agenda – as in for individual people – and the Republicans are more business – the machine that has been paying the people less and less.
So what would happen if the bottom 99% looses all their money, their quality of life and everything they ever saved for so the top 1% can redefine wealth and live in ivory towers? Heading down that path where the have-nots get lazier and the haves keep getting greedier you are brewing a potent mess.
If we can’t figure out how to get the corruption in health care under control- whether it is socializing medicine or breaking the insurance companies’ death grip on the prices they helped inflate- the largest group of the US population will age during the sickest economy ever without retirement or healthcare… And all those businesses that made more profit by moving their shops to china, India and Mexico will leave the US after they have bled the last drop of red white and blue out of us. Not surprisingly because we mostly opted for the big-box stores and to save a few dollars ourselves- it will take honest people with our societies best interests to step in and intervene so we will have a future.
We need a reset.

Reading the "ethics" section of radical activity, it is clear that the reliance is on moral relativism; if I think or feel that its right, then whatever means is justified to suit "the greater good". The problem lies in who's opinion of what is "good".

A comment on capitalism. While it's true that vulture capitalism is using political influence and power for the ridiculous incomes/bonuses of the super-wealthy, the majority of "junior capitalists", aka small business owners work very hard on "shoe-string budgets" to earn and keep a living income. Not all capitalists are the same, much the same way all welfare recipients are not lazy. Politicians, media (left and right)and extremists attempt to group people into convenient labels to satisfy their own agendas. Thank you.

RFR is dedicated to Lucifer. And in a sense, that is all you need to know about this book. The same words were written eons ago by the entity to which it is dedicated.

For indeed, if you like anarchy and all of the fruits it brings such as desolation, destruction, scorched earth, death, disease, malnutrition, suicide, dispair and the like, you will love the ideas of Lucifer and Alinsky.

They are, as he readily admits, one and the same.

I know for a fact that the GOP has practiced Alinsky's RULES FOR RADICALS since before the rise of Thom DeLay in TEXAS. I know that, for a fact, because I had in my possession a Texas GOP campaign handbook in which EVERY ALINSKY tactic was advocated and urged by GOP political consultants and campaign managers. I could name names! One of them was Paul Caprio who managed the State Senate race of Mike Richards at a time when Thom DeLay was advocating the gerrymandering of the state of TX. John Brady was another. I would not be surprised if Karl Rove did not also have a copy.

In short --the GOP are very much at home with Alinsky's tactics which, obviously, are only repulsive, leftist or 'dangerous' if it is Democrats who avail themselves of them. The rise of the GOP in Texas --a state which had hitherto been Democratic (for some 100 years) --tells me that ALINSKY works!!! And when Alinsky is working for the GOP, nothing is heard about it.

It is ONLY when Alinsky might be working for DEMOCRATS that the GOP will feign shock and indignation. This is PATENTED GOP SHIT!

I see that Alinsky's words have already worked on you, ha.

Wow, hello crazy right wing american weirdos. Alinsky saved thousands of disenfranchised citizens from crushing poverty and was an integral part of the wider civil rights movement.
What have you achieved lately?

Anonymous said...

One can only wonder how much worse the crush of poverty and citizen disenfranchisement would have been -- absent Alinsky's social justice 'leveling' -- over the past half-century of Lyndon Johnson's welfare-state.

Alinsky saved or created jobs for so many community organizers. They paid taxes like everyone else and helped grow the economy. Right?

Anonymous said...

You mean those Community Organizers like ACORN who for many years were feeding from the public trough?

"Alinsky saved thousands of disenfranchised citizens from crushing poverty and was an integral part of the wider civil rights movement."

A system that has caused many in its grasp to become so dependent on the Government systems that they cannot think for themselves. Many would rather sit at home and play video games than be out working. Why should they work when they can get the same thing by sitting home on their butts. Rather than empowering people to become independent and financially free of government, Saul Alinky types have done the total opposite.

McCarthy was right. He was just made to look like a fool by his over zealousness. He should have toned it down and been more sure of his targets.

Alinsky's advice to young radicals—"go home, organize, build power [and] you be the delegates"—is the strategy adopted by American religious right and social conservatives in the 1980s.

They're organized, they're the delegates, they pack the school boards, they pack the city councils and state legislatures. The right's adoption of Alinsky's strategy was a success for the right and a disaster for the country. But you gotta give 'em credit: the right got out there and they organized and they built power. And how did they do that? Well, they did it with... wait for it... community organizers!

Tea Party mantra.

Wow, it is clear now Alinsky's rules work no matter who uses them and it appears that the GOP, it's media pundits and their foot soldier are using them effectively. Thanks Newt G. for revealing this tidbit.

My one questin is this: If the progressives have been so interested in helping the "disenfranchised", why is it that there has been so little done for the inner cities, except to make them dependent on the government? Could it be that all they are relly interested in is control and power? A dependent citizen is much more easy to control. And the "disenfranchised" have fallen right into the trap; supporting the progressives to the tune of about 90%.

Liberal sheep bleat to their master Saul Alinsky to their and our nations demise. Enslavement to government is their end as they expand their ranks through dependence upon the private sector going on welfare, food stamps and housing projects, etc. Greed for other peoples money without doing anything for it but electing those that steal from those that work for a living by government decree also known as the Democrat party. To hell with them!
