Obama campaigns for ACORN-Care ... Coming to a neighborhood near you: nonprofit health coops administered by ACORN designed to use state Medicaid programs to usher in single payer health care. A Tea Party conspiracy theory? Hardly. While the catfight over the cost of reform and the nature of the public plan escalated as details unfolded, no one paid attention to what the harmless sounding exchanges actually do. (spectator.org)
Obama: We don't need no stinkin' non-union doctors ... Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found. Four of nine doctors, or 45%, said they "would consider leaving their practice or taking an early retirement" if Congress passes the plan the Democratic majority and White House have in mind. More than 800,000 doctors were practicing in 2006, the government says. Projecting the poll's finding onto that population, 360,000 doctors would consider quitting. More than seven in 10 doctors, or 71% — the most lopsided response in the poll — answered "no" when asked if they believed "the government can cover 47 million more people and that it will cost less money and the quality of care will be better."(investors.com)
Obama's forges new global crisis to revive failing Presidency ... President Obama’s hero is Abraham Lincoln. But Obama has the central story of Lincoln’s Presidency confused- Lincoln saved “the union”- NOT the auto union, teachers union, or government employees union. President Obama’s leftist love affair with unions has now reached critical mass- I believe it now threatens our economic future. President Obama’s decision to start a full-blown trade war with China, by imposing heavy trade duties on imported Chinese tires, will start an economic war that the U.S. people cannot afford…nor hope to win. It will cost jobs; destroy businesses; hurt U.S. GDP (Gross Domestic Product); and damage the future of our children and grandchildren. But worse, it threatens to plunge the entire world into a global economic catastrophe. (independentpoliticalreport.com)
Typical SEIU operative gets Big House ... Former Service Employees International Union Local 1000 president and Department of Insurance employee Jaime Enrique Feliciano was sentenced to 25 years in state prison Tuesday after pleading no contest to child molestation, possession of child pornography and manufacturing child pornography. Acting on a crime tip, law enforcement authorities searched Feliciano’s Sacramento residence in September 2008.They found thousands of child pornography images on DVDs and Internet downloads he was able to view on his personal computer and DOI laptop, according to an announcement from Sacramento County District Attorney Jan Scully. Disgraced leftwing Alinskyite defends ACORN ... Rathke has repeatedly blasted the news media and conservative groups for intentionally targeting ACORN because of its progressive agenda. In a posting on his “Chief Organizer Blog,” Rathke said the Census Bureau’s decision to break ties with ACORN showed “how willing the Obama administration is open to a cave-in to the conservatives on false pretenses on a completely fake ‘issue.’” (biggovernment.com)

Obama too busy to care ... I was amazed about the number of the American citizens who came out against the Obamacare, and the rest of the non-justice that the Obama administration is trying to shove down our throats. Obama states that if anyone wants to talk with him about the Obamacare, those with good ideas (agreeing with him, of course) that his door is open. What good is the door being open if he is never in the office? He is out running around the country (and other places), he is never in Washington. (times-news.com)
RICO ACORN ... Texas Rep. Lamar Smith, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, on Tuesday called on the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice to open investigations into the embattled Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, better known by the acronym ACORN. “For years, ACORN has been the subject of allegations of fraud, misconduct and possible criminal activity. In fact, voter registration fraud allegations have led ACORN to be subject to investigation in 15 states,” Smith wrote in a statement attached to letters sent to FBI Director Robert Mueller and Glenn Fine, the Justice Department’s inspector general. “Despite these serious concerns, Congress and the Administration continue to provide federal funding to a corrupt organization,” Smith continued. “Our democracy depends on the integrity of our election process. ACORN’s efforts to swing election results through voter registration fraud undermine the integrity of our elections and shake the American people’s faith in their government.” (politico.com)
Shut down union-backed, tax-funded fraud group ... It's time to draw the line on ACORN. In fact, long past time. The group deserves not one penny of public funding. For any reason. And the recent outrageous videos -- showing its employees giving advice on committing housing fraud to filmmakers who claimed to be looking to open a brothel -- are only the latest reason. Yes, some officials are waking up. * State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said yesterday that he'd flag any state money going to the radical group. * Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and the Brooklyn DA began probes. * City Council Speaker Christine Quinn suspended council payouts pending the DA investigation. But there's more to do -- much more. As The Post reports, state lawmakers earmarked nearly $900,000 for ACORN's housing arm over the past four years, including $415,000 this year alone. (nypost.com)
NYT takes on ACORN corruption scandal ... In response to the Acorn videos, an instant hit on YouTube, the Senate voted 83 to 7 on Monday to prohibit the Department of Housing and Urban Development from giving federal housing money to the organization. The bill’s advocates said the group had received $53 million in such financing since 1994. Last Friday, the Census Bureau dropped Acorn as one of 80,000 national unpaid “partners” helping promote the 2010 census, saying the group’s involvement might “create a negative connotation” and discourage participation in the population count. On Tuesday, the House Republican leader, Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, wrote to President Obama asking him to cut off all federal financing to Acorn and its affiliates. “It is evident that Acorn is incapable of using federal funds in a manner that is consistent with the law,” Mr. Boehner wrote. (nytimes.com)
Meet your U.S. Senators (D-ACORN) ... By a vote of 83-7, the Senate voted to cut off funding to ACORN from the Department of Transportation and Department of Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. Dick Durbin (D-IL), Roland Burris (D-IL), Robert Casey (D-PA), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). According to Fox News, your tax dollars have been very generous to ACORN. "ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, according to USASpending.gov, a federal government Web site for tracking government grants. The Department of Housing and Urban Development Grants has given $8.2 million to ACORN in the years between 2003 and 2006, as well as $1.6 million to ACORN affiliates." Now who were those seven senators who were apparently unfazed by ACORN's bland unconcern of providing mortgage money to a supposed prostitute and her pimp, even counseling them on evading taxes? (Nine senators did not vote.) (americanthinker.com)
Social justice fraud, interrupted ... On Monday, the U.S. Senate voted 83-7 to strip Acorn, the premier community organizing group on the left, of more than $1.6 million in federal housing money meant to assist low-income people obtain loans and prepare tax forms. This dramatic step followed last Friday's decision by the U.S. Census Bureau to sever its ties with the organization, one of several community groups it was partnering with to conduct the nation's head count. Both of these actions came after secretly recorded videos involving employees in Acorn's Brooklyn, N.Y., Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Md. and San Bernardino, Calif. offices were televised on Fox News. The videos were recorded by two independent filmmakers who posed as a prostitute and a pimp and said they were planning to import underage women from El Salvador for the sex trade. They asked for and received advice on getting a housing loan and evading federal taxes. (online.wsj.com)
JP Morgan Chase: Please stop the pain ... NLPC has asked JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon to end financial support for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), and its affiliates. According to the 2007 tax return for the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, the most recent available, ACORN Housing, Inc. was the recipient of a million dollar grant in 2007. Another grant of $25,000 was made to the ACORN Institute. In a letter to Dimon, I warned: "Continued identification with ACORN harms the company’s brand name and reputation, and carries special risks for this company, a recipient of taxpayer TARP funds. The New York Times has identified you as President Obama’s “favorite banker.”"
ACORN: Mainstreams fail ... The radical activist group ACORN is the E. F. Hutton of prostitution. It stands ready to provide discreet advice on setting up a brothel and engaging in other, associated acts of criminality. When ACORN talks, pimps and hookers listen. This has been established by an audacious video sting operation undertaken by guerrilla conservative documentarian James O'Keefe, 25, and his sidekick Hannah Giles, 20. O'Keefe posed as a pimp and Giles as a prostitute seeking help getting a mortgage for a brothel. In cities around the country, workers for ACORN - the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - happily obliged. The videos are 60 Minutes for the YouTube age. Posted at the new website BigGovernment.com and aired on Fox News, they are yet another indication of the loosening grip of the legacy media. (realclearpolitics.com)
CBS compromises ACORN scandal blackout ... ACORN calls itself the nation's largest grassroots community organization, with more than 400,000 members. It helps low-income Americans find affordable housing and it receives tens of millions in government funding. But, as CBS News correspondent Cynthia Bowers reports, that may be coming to an end, thanks to undercover videos that have sparked a huge scandal. The videos reportedly recorded late July and early August appear to show ACORN employees in several big cities including Baltimore, Washington and New York, advising a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute. The employees are heard telling the couple how to avoid paying taxes and how to qualify for a mortgage on a home the couple plan to use as a brothel. (cbsnews.com)
Probe Soros ... When the list of donors to the Van Jones Green for All organization is examined, one name stands out – the Open Society Institute of billionaire George Soros. The Green for All 2008 annual report is also notable for the pictures of the powerful people who associated with Jones. They include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Al Gore. We don't need no stinkin' non-union jobs ... It is no secret that U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis supports the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) and Project Labor Agreements. Yesterday she addressed the 2009 AFL-CIO Convention in Pittsburgh, PA and reaffirmed her support of these special interest policies that will kill jobs and exclusively benefit Big Labor and harm American taxpayers, workers and businesses (thetruthaboutplas.com)
Specter ties up to sinking ship ... President Barack Obama urged Pennsylvania voters on Tuesday to support the re-election bid of Sen. Arlen Specter in a personal appearance here for the Republican-turned-Democrat who represents an important test of the White House's political apparatus. Facing a potential primary challenge, Specter, a longtime Republican, switched political parties in April, giving Democrats a valuable 60-vote majority in the Senate. The White House immediately said it would help Specter defend his seat, starting with a fundraiser Tuesday that was expected to raise $2.5 million. (sfexaminer.com)
Must. Find. Hoffa. ... For a second straight day the FBI supervised digging at a site on Detroit's west side. Agents are conducting an investigation, but it is not known what they are searching for. This new dig has sparked speculation that the Feds may be looking for the former Teamster's President Jimmy Hoffa. Investigators at the scene were seen carrying binders that said "Big Dig 2" during Monday's search. Three years ago, in another search shrouded in secrecy, agents dug up the Hidden Dreams horse farm in Milford Township looking for Hoffa. At the time agents called that search the "Big Dig." Two of the same companies hired for the search in 2006--Able Demolition and Sterling Top Soil, both out of Macomb County--have also been brought in for this one. (wxyz.com)

Leftwing operatives pack Pittsburgh ... Fourteen hour days, five hours of sleep maximum, grabbing a bite of fast food only now and then – it's no problem, so far, for 3,000 delegates, guests and supporters well into their second day here at the 26th Convention of the AFL-CIO. “I’ve never been so fired up,” Dean Reynolds, a delegate who works as a staffer for AFSCME and serves as president of Pennsylvania’s Northeast Central Labor Council, told the World this morning. “The best part so far was marching for health care with hundreds of my union brothers and sisters from the convention to the Michael Moore movie.” (pww.org)
Shame on leftwing racism ... I traveled on the Tea Party Express tour bus as a singer/songwriter, entertainer and spokesperson; 16 states, 34 rallies in two weeks. I experienced vicious racial verbal attacks, not from the tea party protesters. The racial hate expressed against me all came from the left, people who support President Obama's radial socialist agenda. (americanthinker.com)
Obamunists: Why bother with Constitution, elections? ... The Constitution of Honduras was written with the assistance of the U.S. Government. It was written with certain safeguards in mind that would prevent a repeat of the numerous military coups that had plagued Central America for years. It was written to ensure the civilian government that came to power in 1982 would, for years to come, have a roadmap for a peaceful transition of power whether through the mandate of the people or the mandate of the Constitution. It was a roadmap followed to the letter of the law by the interim government. There is a consistent lack of principle in the Obama Administration’s refusal to recognize a legal government in Honduras while recognizing an illegal one in Iran. What is most troublesome in the case of Honduras is the State Department’s announcement that the United States will not recognize the outcome of the Honduran election now scheduled for November 2009. Are we approaching the point at which we prefer to deal with governments whose mandates stem from fraudulent elections or no elections at all? (humanevents.com)
Barack hearts Hugo. Yawn. ... Being a buffoon can buy a lot of time in international politics — you can do naughty things for a long while before people begin to take them seriously. This is the case of Venezuela's Hugo Chávez, whose relationship with Iran was the subject of a recent presentation by Robert Morgenthau, the legendary Manhattan district attorney. Based on his office's investigations, third-party collaboration and snippets of public information, Morgenthau concludes that Venezuela and Iran are "acting together in our backyard on the development of nuclear and missile technology." Vlad courts Fidel ... A top Russian military official has begun a four-day visit to Cuba in the latest sign of warming relations between the old Cold War allies. General Nikolai Makarov, the chief of Russia's General Staff, was to meet his Cuban counterparts and tour military installations, according to reports in state media. He is the latest in a series of Russian officials to visit Cuba in the past year as the two countries renew their once-strong ties. (rferl.org)
We don't need no stinkin' intellectual freedom ... Vietnam's only independent think tank has disbanded due to a government decree restricting the right to conduct research on the ruling Communist Party. The decree came into effect on Tuesday and limits political research to certain approved topics. The think tank, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), called the government's actions a blow to intellectual freedom. The new decree follows recent moves to suppress blogging inside the country. (news.bbc.co.uk)
