In the tank for ACORN ... As of Friday afternoon, the only place this story has aired is on FOX, a known conservative cable news channel. MSNBC, known for its left leaning reporting has yet to post this story on their web site, nor have they aired it on their cable channel. CNN, made mention of it once, on their web-site. Why is the main-stream media avoiding this controversial story? ACORN is a community organizing group that receives tax dollars and who are slated to acquire roughly $8 billion of the stimulus money; one would think the media would be all over this. Speculation is that the main stream-media, who are completely enamored with our president, won’t air or publish any story, no matter how relevant, if it reflects poorly on this administration. President Obama once represented ACORN back when he was practicing law. It is also known that he was a community organizer himself for many years. Is it the loose ties that the president shares with ACORN the reason the main stream media choose to steer clear of this story? (examiner.com)

Obama knows ACORN ... Want a summary of a.k.a. Barack Obama's close connections with ACORN, a.k.a., the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now? You know — that huge, criminal organization founded and lead by Marxists, George Wiley and Wade Rathke — and Wade's known embezzler brother, Dale Rathke. You know — that heavily taxpayer financed and George Soros backed Marxist operation based upon the plans of Saul Alinsky and that happy ol' couple, Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. You know — the queen bee of the communisty organizations employing the Cloward-Piven strategy, designed to so greatly overload America's commitments to the increasing ranks of the dependent "poor," that it brings the nation to ruin, while the same set of operations builds up the armies of the proletariat, to revolt against our free, constitutional America. ACORN throws progressive workers under the bus ... Two more ACORN officials were fired Friday after a second video surfaced showing staffers in the community organizers’ Washington office offering to help a man and woman posing as a pimp and prostitute acquire illegal home loans that would help them set up a brothel. The firings came less than 24 hours after another pair of ACORN officials from the group’s Baltimore office were canned for instructing the “pimp” and “prostitute” how to falsify tax forms and seek illegal benefits for 13 “very young” girls from El Salvador that pair said they wanted to import to work as child prostitutes. Both of the encounters were videotaped on a hidden camera wielded by 25-year-old independent filmmaker James O’Keefe, posing as the pimp — tapes that have ignited calls for investigations of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Job-Killer trigger? ... Under the “trigger” compromise the time that can pass between the day that union supporters have a majority of the needed signatures and the day of an election, if the company insists on one, would be drastically shortened. The law would mandate an election in days, rather than months. The penalties to an employer for even attempting to harass or influence employees would include cancellation of the election and “triggering” of automatic union certification as a result of the majority sign-up process that had taken place. Other aspects of the compromise include, as do all of the deals that have been floated, measures to keep companies from stalling during contract talks and stiffer penalties for any violations of labor law. Union-backed, tax-funded fraud group receives billions ... Charles Krauthammer: ACORN has all of the appearance of a criminal racket. This is graphic appearance, incredibly strong evidence, but it’s at the end of a long list of evidence going back years and years. I’m glad that the Census is cutting its ties. What I’m worried about is that the Stimulus package had millions of dollars, and there are loopholes in there which would allow it to end up in the hands of ACORN, and that’s what people ought to be looking at right now. Congressman: Probe ACORN ... A Maryland congressman called for an investigation of ACORN after a second video surfaced that appeared to show its employees offering tax advice for criminal activities, but city prosecutors say the surreptitious recordings themselves might have violated state law. Meanwhile, the Census Bureau said it was severing ties with the organization, which also has been the target of complaints about fraudulent voter registration. (baltimoresun.com)

'Public Option' government would cut costs, improve service? ... White House sources said today that President Obama may soon propose legislation that would save Americans billions of dollars each year while improving service by creating a 'public option' version of the federal government. The new entity would introduce 'choice and competition' to the lethargic big-government market, currently dominated in many areas of the country by a single player. "The executives who work in the U.S. government now have no incentive to trim expenses, or to serve the needs of average Americans," said an unnamed White House source. "That's because they have no competition. Costs skyrocket. People get the brush off, or have to contend with miles of red tape to accomplish simple things. If the federal government had to look over its shoulder now and then because it had a scrappy competitor, that would provide incentive to improve." (washingtonexaminer.com)
We don't need no stinkin' career politicians ... No matter what side of the health care reform debate you support, one thing has become crystal clear: politicians are ruining America. Politicians no longer represent the citizenry. Their primary concern is to be reelected and to pander to the special-interest groups that will fund their reelection bid. Our founding fathers never intended our representatives to be career politicians. Their wisdom was to have the common man serve a finite term and then return to the private sector. This would prevent special interests from getting their claws into our representatives and from our representatives having a “dynasty.” (napavalleyregister.com)
U.S. clings to presidential term limit ... Thanks to the 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, no president can serve more than two four-year terms (apart from some very bizarre and highly improbable circumstances). So, on a national level, we are guaranteed (for good or ill) a whole new government every eight years. It's part of what makes the description of the American political system as "institutionalized revolution" so true. (wizbangblog.com)
VeneProg turns on student dissenter ... Student activist Julio César Rivas, 22, who was arrested by police on Monday, was ordered to be held in custody at El Rodeo I jail pending trial on charges alleging violent conduct during an Opposition march against the recently promulgated Education Law on August 22. Rivas, who is a student at the privately-run Universidad Alejandro Humboldt, was charged with inciting civil war, instigating crime and disobedience of the law, damaging public property, using “generic arms” and criminal association. No date was set for a trial. Similar charges have been brought against Caracas Prefect Richard Blanco, a senior official appointed by Opposition Metropolitan Mayor Antonio Ledezma. He was arrested after an incident involving a police officer in plain clothes who had been taking photographs of protesters on the same march. (laht.com)
Leftwing filmmaker takes on Ahmadinejad ... Acclaimed director Oliver Stone is planning a big screen documentary based on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The three-time Oscar-winner is in talks with Iran to document the newly re-elected president, who is internationally criticized over Iran’s nuclear weapons program and his attitude towards the West. The disputed leader’s re-election earlier this year also drew protests from hundreds of demonstrators who were injured as they to took to the streets. Stone, who recently finished shooting his documentary-style film on the life of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, said conflicting schedules may stall his plans. (newspostonline.com)
